Auntie Kim's Korean Restaurant @ Upper Thomson Road

I shall name a certain friend Pineapple  here. So last month Pineapple has been craving for Korean food for a long time, thus we decided to try out this Korean restaurant along Upper Thomson Road one Wednesday afternoon. It was pouring heavily when we reached that place, which probably explained the lack of a lunch crowd when we were there.

It was our first visit there and when we looked at the menu, I thought it was rather pricey! It's probably the usual Korean restaurant prices, but since I seldom/rarely/never eat at Korean restaurants...

The appetizers arrived and I was quite looking forward to this as I have read in other food reviews that Korean restaurants always give free flow of appetizers! Not that the free flow worked for us since there were only two of us and by the time I tasted all of the appetizers I was 50% full already haha!

There were spinach, cucumber, kimchi, beansprouts, some sweet black bean thingies, and the last one was I think...deep fried lotus? Can't really remember, but it was nice! They sure were appetizing; I kept nibbling on them throughout the meal.

There were quite a few dishes that we wanted to try out but we were limited by our small number of people. In the end we decided on this - Traditional Barbequed Beef Short Ribs $27 if I didn't remember wrongly... It came with lettuce at the side and a kind of sauce. Lettuce provided was too little because it was half gone when we wrapped 2 pieces of meat! Meat was tasty and tender though, worth a try!

Another dish that we ordered was the Ginseng Chicken Soup. We tried the one at Seoul Yummy @ Clarke Quay The Central before and it was really nice so we decided to try the one here.

When the pot arrived we got a shock because it looked like that one particular dish was enough to feed us both, and we still had the BBQ meat! So it's better to bring more people if you're thinking of coming here and want to try more dishes! Both of us agreed that the chicken soup we had at Seoul Yummy was sweeter, tastier, and had more glutinous rice than the one here.

After our meal we were given fruits and two bowls of beverage which we assumed to be ginger drinks. The drinks were really cooling and refreshing. No problems with the service since we were the only ones there. Their toilet is very clean and useable as well, but that's just additional.

How much was spent: $27-$30
Would I go back? Not sure, probably not. Worth a try, but once is enough.
